The geometric restroom door signs now common throughout the United States, and indeed, throughout the rest of the world, were developed in the 1960s in California. Using larger (12" x 12") signs in universally recognized shapes of the circle and triangle to convey the gender access for a restroom is an instant communication facilitated by smart, thoughtful sign design.
