Fort Worth superintendent rejects call to resign over transgender bathroom guidelines

The Fort Worth school superintendent said Tuesday he will not heed Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick‘s request for his resignation over school district guidelines that allow transgender students to use the bathroom that aligns with their gender identity.
An act to amend Sections 55.53 and 55.56 of the Civil Code, and to amend Sections 4459.7, 4459.8, and 8299.06 of, to add Section 65941.6 to, and to add Article 4 (commencing with Section 65946) to Chapter 4.5 of Division 1 of Title 7 of, the Government Code, relating to disability access, and declaring the urgency thereof, to take effect immediately.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch struck back against North Carolina’s lawsuit over the state’s controversial LGBT law, calling it “state-sanctioned discrimination” against transgender people.

“Typically, when a hotel advertises itself as wheelchair accessible, they are looking specifically at the hotel rooms themselves,” he says. “Rarely can you find specific accessibility information about the exterior of the hotel itself or access to the other amenities in the hotel such as the breakfast room, restaurant, or bar.”
529A Accounts Let Disabled Save Without Risk to Government Aid

The state-sponsored accounts are known as 529 ABLE, or 529A, accounts. Authorized in 2014 by the Achieving a Better Life Experience Act (ABLE Act), the accounts are modeled loosely on 529 college savings accounts.
