Unlike rigid paving tiles, these flexible truncated domes pads are a good choice for conforming to slightly irregular surfaces or inclines. The pads can also be cut in the field using a power saw to get that perfect fit.

Slip resistance ratings are excellent and longevity exceeds the five-year minimum required by ADA law. Hard enough to offer required audible detection from the tapping of a cane, but having a resilience hard ceramic or fiberglass composite paving tiles lack, these urethane truncated domes from Ultra Tech are easy on foot traffic while withstanding the high traffic and harsh wear and tear of parking lot environments.

Tactile warnings provide a distinctive surface pattern of "truncated domes" (which are small domes that have had their tops cut off, or trunted) detectable by long cane or underfoot. Truncated Dome Pads are used to alert people with visual impairments of their approach to streets and hazardous drop-offs. People who are blind or visually impaired are alerted of impending danger from vehicle impact or a grade change. Originally instituted at pedestrian crossings and other hazardous vehicular ways by countries like Japan, the United Kingdom and Australia, among others, the United States adopted the standard use of tactile paving after passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The raised pattern of domes also known as truncated domes are the preferred design for detectable warning tiles and pavers. These heavy-duty urethane pads have the strength to surpass the ADA required minimum 5 years of use, but also have the flexibility to fit less than perfect surfaces.
