Assistive Listening Systems Available Sign - ADA Compliant Guide Sign - 12" x 6"

Assistive listening devices are a marvelous accommodation and are now required under the ADA at all public meeting locations. Assistive Listening Systems are often provided for the hearing impaired in movie theaters, stage theaters, museums, concert venues and other public assembly places. Amplifiers or hearing enhancement devices allow people with hearing disabilities to fully access and enjoy presentations, lectures, movies, plays, shows and more.

This sign is also available in a brushed aluminum version, BAL-1155 Assistive Listening Sign

The ADA requirements state: "In each assembly area, where audible communication is integral to the use of the space, an Assistive Listening System (ALS) shall be provided." The ADA does not specify the technology. This can be accomplished by providing a personal neck loop or a hearing loop system with receivers for those who do not have T-coil hearing aids.

The ADA also states that "a minimum of twenty-five percent of the receivers provided, but no fewer than two, shall be hearing-aid compatible. Further, each assembly area required to provide assistive listening devices shall provide signs informing patrons of the availability of the assistive listening system." The ear symbol is one of the basic ADA pictograms and is used on signs for listening devices and amplified phones. This ADA Compliant Assistive Listening Sign is used in museums, theaters, auditoriums, and in public meetings.
